Hope Whispers . . .

When the world says, “Give up,”

Hope Whispers,  “Try it one more time.”

“Man can live about forty days without food, about three days without water, about eight minutes without air, but only for ONE SECOND without hope.”

Hope is what anchors our soul and gives us promise for a new day.  My mom used to always say “without hope, you have nothing.”  Her wise words have carried me my entire life! When despair managed to creep in, those words echoed in my mind repeatedly.

I do believe however that most of us are hopeful, from time to time. After all, how else would we be able to function in our daily lives?  But then . . . LIFE HAPPENS!  Discouragement takes over and disappointments take a front seat. We start believing our own lies. We start believing that voice that whispers . . .

“You’re not ever going to feel happy again.”

“Your current situation will never get better.”

“You’re not smart enough for that new venture you’re thinking of starting.”

“You’re not good enough for that dream job you’ve always wanted.”

“You’re not worthy of finding your soul mate and falling in love.”

You’re not this, you’re not that . . . and so the toxic lies slowly convince you.

But hope is being able to see that there is a light despite our darkness.  Despite our circumstances. That although we might be climbing a huge mountain with no end in sight, we can always CHOOSE HOPE!  Keep moving forward, keep pushing through, one tiny step at a time.  ONE DAY, YOU WILL REACH THE TOP OF YOUR MOUNTAIN!  When the world says GIVE UP. Hope whispers, try it ONE MORE TIME.

A butterfly begins its life as a caterpillar and through its metamorphosis emerges into a beautiful butterfly. It is NO EASY TASK, but the butterfly doesn’t get discouraged.  Doesn’t question. Doesn’t become disappointed. It just keeps persistently moving forward, without doubt, without giving up.  THAT’S HOPE!

And yes, I understand the butterfly “naturally” does this.  But we CAN also “naturally” live a life FULL OF HOPE by making the CHOICE to do so.

And when the road gets rough, as it does for all of us from time to time, CHOOSE HOPE, knowing that your tough times WILL PASS!
