Thankful for Unseen Blessings

If you look around my home, my neighborhood, and within my circle you will notice that I have many things to be grateful for. I live in a beautiful home with a neatly manicured lawn.  On the inside, my home is nicely furnished and decorated with many things.  It is evident that I have much, I believe many of us do. But growing up in a humble home with parents that worked long hours just to put food on the table for the three of us, I am acutely aware of what I have, and trust me when I say none of it has ever been taken for granted.

My life however, has never been about what I possess, as I know for certain that my value comes from who I am and not by what I own. My life’s purpose is focused on being fully present in the small, yet significant moments where God’s favor shines through. These moments are my unseen blessings touching my heart in such a way that allows me to feel God’s love.

When my children share a smile or a loving look, although no words are exchanged, I know in that moment they are saying, “Thank you for being my mom and I love you.”  When a friend offers a listening ear when I desperately need someone to hear me, it is in those moments I feel cared for, validated and that I matter. Then there are those mornings when I first open my eyes and watch the sun rise, in those moments I feel humbled because I am reminded of God’s provision, his beautiful promises, and that His mercies are new every day.

One of the most blessed experiences we can enjoy are the blessings we receive that cannot be seen with our physical eyes. God is always blessing us even if we don’t realize it. Every day he sends us good and perfect gifts.

This Thanksgiving, open your heart to your unseen blessings.  Look all around you, they are there waiting to bless you.

  1. This is the first house we’ve lived in that doesn’t have a manicured lawn. It really bothered me at first. People would walk by and look at it like it was awful.

Then I realized, the reason no grass would grow was because of this massive oak tree that canopies the yard and most of the house. It was just gonna be a grass-less lawn, but ohhhhh the shade from that tree! It is so much more beautiful, and I don’t miss mowing one bit. xxx

  2. Thank you so much for this. This was truly heartfelt and a true blessing. It is certainly a challenge to be able to have nice things but remain humble and loving, realizing that it hasn’t always been like this nor does it have to be. But by the GRACE of our God. Thanks for this, sister. Enjoy your holiday!
